Welcome to the official Web site of the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department. Since 1949 our Fire Department has provided top quality services throughout the Winthrop Harbor Fire District. Our humble beginning, with a 2-bay firehouse built by volunteers, and a single fire engine delivered on a cold December day 60 years ago, has lead to today's modern, fully equipped and professionaly staffed department. The functions of the Fire Department include fire prevention through public education and code enforcement, fire control and extinguishment, hazardous materials response, rescue operations, and emergency medical services. We are a community oriented Fire Department, always striving to educate our residents on fire safety and prevention techniques. We are involved in our community in many ways, and always have an open invitation for residents to visit the firehouse to learn more. All of us at the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department are proud of the accomplishments that have been achieved over these past six decades, and we are pleased to provide this Web site, full of both our modern day information and our rich history.
